Drainage, Foul, Storm and Soakaways!
Drainage isn’t as straightforward as just digging a trench, placing some pea-shingle, laying the pipe and back-filling the trench. Drainage and pipe work that isn’t installed properly can lead to serious issues, from back-filling, blocking and potentially flooding people’s homes to causing pollution and health problems.
We take Local Building Regulations very seriously and for good reason, to comply with Local Building Regulations, Part H Drainage and Waste Disposal. Your drainage must be safe, secure, and correctly fitted. Below are some of the requirements for Local Building Control.
- Pipework must be accessible at every turn to remove blockages.
- Pipework must have the correct diameter and gradient for it to flow correctly.
- Pipework must be correctly installed and airtight.
- Properly ventilated where necessary to meet specifications.
Drainage Services by Currell Groundworks
New Install Drainage
For newly-built homes, commercial property, or any new dwelling, we cover your drainage needs. We install to the spec of the architect’s drawings, making sure they’re fitted efficiently, correctly, and securely, so they’re functioning for years to come. We can connect you to the sewer line, and install septic tanks or sewer treatment plants for remote properties.
Foul and storm drainage are fitted to spec, making sure they work as they should and that manhole covers are placed where they need to be, for any potential unlocking that may be needed in the future.
Repairing or Altering Existing Drainage
While drainage has improved dramatically over the years from the heavy clay pipes, however, it still needs repairing from time to time, all drainage, no matter how well installed, can have problems, the ground shifting or tree roots growing, slowly crushing, and bending the pipework.
We have years of experience excavating drainage, replacing outdated or damaged pipes, and when necessary restructuring the pipework so that the same issue isn’t repeated.
You may need to make alterations if you’re having work done, such as a new patio or home extension. If the rainwater isn’t properly managed from the extension, it can affect your footing, causing lots of damage and a very hefty bill to fix.
Soakaways!
Soakaways are a very popular way of disposing of surface water and rainwater, especially for remote buildings where they’re unable to connect to a public sewer or water course. Soakaways store the run-off from roofs and hard surfaces, before being dispersed into the surrounding soil quickly enough, to allow room for the next potential storm. Soakaways are a cost-effective solution and should always be the first choice, where possible, they must be at least 5 meters from the building or public road.
At Currell Groundworks we understand the importance of soakaways and how they must be installed within Local Building Authority regulations so that they last and don’t cause any problems to your home/dwelling.
We install soakaways and sewer treatment plants. Soakaways tackle surface water that may sit on the surface of gardens during the rainier seasons. Sewer treatment plants are fitted usually for one or two homes in remote areas, that can’t be connected up to the main foul line. They expel only clean water and don’t need to be emptied like the classic septic tanks.
Sewer Treatment Plant!
Sewer Treatment Plants are the modern version of the previously used septic tanks, they have many advantages over the classic septic tank, they don’t need to be emptied as often and only expel clean water after in-taking foul waste. Less likely to cause flooding, more cost-effective, and much better for the environment.
A lot goes into installing a Sewer Treatment Plant and it’s of utmost importance that it’s done safely and correctly, an improperly installed system can lead to no end of problems further down the line and if it’s not installed to building control standards, you may find yourself paying a large bill for it to be removed and reinstalled correctly.
